Fred Fitzgearld's Bronco Modifications

The goal of this project was to get the best of two Broncos put together in the shortest amount of time possible. I started work on the project the second week of may, and was able to drive it on my vacation to the Rubicon trail the first week in October. However, little odds and ends still are not complete.

The first truck (a 1973) was the one I had been working on for the past two years. It had a stock 302, Holley 500cfm 2bl carb, adj. track bar, 35x12.5 tires, Rock Crawler coils, National rear leafs, NP435, 3.50 gears, rear Lock-Right, York air compressor, and a body tub that need a lot of work.

The second truck (a 1969) had a nice frame and a body tub that only had surface rust.

The plan was to take the engine and running gear from the '73 and put it under the '69 and add some things to make driving the ol' boy a bit easier to drive. These things included Holley Projection, 23 gal. tank, Power Steering, and some dashboard mods. Also, to make the '73 easier to handle I put the axles from the '69 on the '73. That was the easy part. Next came the front end mods.
