Ok, i've set up my 4.88 gears and bought an open carrier and new cross pin for my dana 44 front. I ordered new thrust washers as well and i'm putting it all back together.. However i don't have the actual "roll pin" (spring pin) that holds the cross pin into the carrier. What does this look like and where can i get one? I don't have one b/c the old limited slip cross pin was held in by "C" clips instead of the roll pin... Mike said i could get one at a local hardware store, however, i don't have a clue what it looks like. Can someone tell me what it looks like or show me a picture of one?? Thanks

I haven't taken the carrier apart to know for sure what that roll pin looks like, but I do know what roll pins are. Here's a pic out of the McMaster&Carr catalog. Yes, you really should be able to find these in any good hardware store.

I just bought one this morning at Ace hardware. It was actually called a Tension Pin on their bin. They had many sizes. The one I bought was $0.40.

The exact name for the pin you you are looking for is "slotted spring pin".
It's funny how there are so many different naming convensions out there.
