rag joint seperation

I'm wanting to remove my p/s box for clean up and have unscrewed the rag joint but cannot seperate them far enough to free up. Does the upper shaft need to be removed to do this?

Loosen the clamp on the upper shaft at the end of the column and slide the upper shaft a couple of inches into the cab. Complete removal is not necessary.
