I have a 3-on-the-tree in my ’72 sport. When I bought it, the linkage was backwards and the clutch was shot. I took it to a trans shop and they replaced the clutch, welded the broken clutch fork, and swapped the linkage.
I’ve put about 200 miles on the truck since the fix and I’m having trouble shifting into first. Reverse, 2nd and 3rd are great, but I grind 1st about every fourth shift. Can this be adjusted? Is it something I can do myself?
The trans shop said I could bring it back if I felt it needed an adjustment. Should I take it in or is this a common issue with a three-on-the-tree?
Thanks, Matt
