nope. the 302 in my 74 (late 73 engine) needed to have hardened seats installed.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. if you're rebuilding the engine or just the heads anyways, get it done. when I tore my 302 apart, it had over 300k miles on it (according to the p.o.), and it was still running okay when I tore it apart. The valves were recessed into the heads pretty far, but they were still sealing okay.
