Water pump compatibility

I noticed that my 79 302 block has a water pump with the discharge on the right (if you are looking at the front of the engine) and the 69 block I just pulled out has the outlet looking left. Just looking at the timing covers, they appear the same, does anyone know if the pumps will interchange? I sure would like to buy a pump rather than a radiator or a crossover pipe.

Driver and passenger inlet waterpumps are interchangable. Depending on what you have there may be interference with the timing pointer.

Reverse and standard rotation waterpumps will bolt in place of each other, but the contour of the ports in the timing cover is wrong.
