I need to replace my rag joint, anyone got some DIY solutions. I thought about cutting it out of the side wall of a tire, pretty strong material. Any thoughts?
Thanks

While I still had to buy a part I used a polyurethane rag joint that some of the mustang venders sell its held up pretty well so far although its not my daily driver anymore so its hard to say. Usually you can get a new rubber piece at most auto parts stores for a few $$. You could also try the tire idea might work.

I know you can replace it with new parts, I just want to rebuild mine, cheap and easy.

Hit any auto parts store and buy a rag joint repair kit from the HELP! parts display rack..they all have them and they are dirt cheap.

O'Reilly's here has the Rag joints in the HELP section and they are pretty cheap.

When I was out at the junkyard shopping for an F150 Box I saw a rag joint that had been put back together with bailing wire! It looked like it had been used that way for a long time. Its scarry to think that the guy drove that thing with the steering held together with wire. Needless to say, I passed on the steering box attached to the bailing wire knot.
