I'm getting close to finishing my '68 with FS axles front & rear and so will need tires and wheels. I'm enamored with the H1 Double bead locks but have 16.5" wheels on my '86 F250 and know that tires are much harder to come by in that size. Wanted to use the BFG KM2 37" but they're not available in
16.5".

Please give me your advice about 16.5" wheels/tires. Could they be a problem, i.e. declining production, too small for 37-39" tires etc.? If not, what 16.5" tires would you recommend for 50% on road, 50% off.

There's not a whole lot of manufacturers pursuing them anymore, but you'll always have the Interco's.

TSL's are still a mainstay in offroading, Iroks are pretty awesome too. Even a few of their radials come in the 16.5.

To add to GB's post, I have a good friend who used to run the 15.5x38x16.5 TSL radials back in the day. They are 10ply so you have to really air them down to bite.. he also used H1 wheels. They held up well and he put them through a LOT of abuse... :)

Here in the PNW, there are many people running tsl SX. They run in the 38" range for a 16.5, not exactly the best on road manners. I guess IROK's are a little more appealing. Just another option.

I run bias IROK's and like them so far.

Crawln68 runs IROK's as well...

Yup! I am running the 39.5 x 13.50 x 16.5 radial on my H1's and LOVE them!! You can also look at the Pitbull tires too.

I've got the Irok 39.5 bias ply on H1's. They haven't seen the trail yet since the build is still ongoing, but those are some great tires.
