Last night a friend and I opened my transfer case so I could modify the shift rails to operate independently. Disassembly went well, including fishing out 48 needle bearings.;D %)
We get the safety pins out, and go to reassemble. We put the shift forks in, and I remembered the detent balls and springs. When I reinstalled the springs and detent balls, I put them in the holes on the top of the case that are across from one another...I'll include a pic to explain...(after looking at the pic I included, I have the springs and ball bearings in the correct hole and correct order.?:? ) Well, we decided to shift the rails and make sure the detent balls were catching.
The rear shift rail works flawlessly. However, the front shift rail gets in a bind and I can't move it at all.
The only things in the case right now are the front output shaft with the "high speed gear" and "slider gear", shift forks, shift rails, and detent balls and springs.
Any help for my situation would be greatly appreciated!;D
