Steering Shaft

I'm finally finishing up my power steering conversion from WBC and am about to cut the steering shaft to slide the coupler on to connect to the new gear. My question is that my shaft appears to be round but the adapter is more oval shaped and doesn't look like it will fit. What have you guys done?

That's what I was figuring on doing, but the instructions say that it should just slide in. I was wondering if I was missing something... Do the shafts vary on different years?

I was going off memory, I came home from work and checked and it is a DD coupler. I got the shaft nice and ground down and am good to go. Thanks guys!
