Gas Gauge Selector Switch Hits Cage

I am fitting my new cage and the gas gauge selector switch hits the front hoop. I think if I cut the switch to half its length it will clear. Anyone ever cut the lever on the switch? Is it hollow or solid? I could move the switch, but this would leave an ugly, unused hole in dash.

Thanks

I'd move the switch. It's easy to fill the old hole. Just stick a piece of metal on the back side with epoxy, mix some filler, fill, sand, prime and paint. Maybe an hours worth of work, including moving the switch.

Do not cut... Buy an after market switch with a short handle... Have you ever priced the factory switch sold by some of the vendors $$$
