problem with my shaft

I recently acquired a power steering setup for my 71 bronco. The power steering setup has a short shaft with a rag joint. My 71 has the long once piece shaft. What is the most cost effective way to adapt the power steering. Can I cut the shaft and weld a flange on to bolt to the rag joint? If so, where would I get that flange? I searched this topic and people recommended milling flat spots on the shaft and using a DD joint? Does anyone have a picture of a DD joint?

Thanks

I'd figure out about what you think it should look like, go to the wrecking yard and roam around until you see something that you can weld on. I just made mine out of a few items I got like that.
