This is part of my Explorer EFI swap but that thread is getting kinda long.
I got the idea to do this from Fungus - he says it keeps cool and he's from Texas so... hopefully he's right. From the pictures I've seen, he does quality work so I'm taking a leap of Fungus faith here.

I'm trying the Explorer 4.0 radiator because its cheap, plentiful and apparently you can use stock Explorer hoses with it. All this work just to avoid using a crossover tube. I am also going to try out the Ford Taurus fan with this Radiator.
my explorer engine didn't fit with the explorer 4.0 radiator, Taurus fan and my core support as it was:
so I got the sawzall out:
and my Lincoln:
now I have enough clearance between the engine and the fan
i plugged the Taurus fan in and checked out the hi-speed and its pretty impressive. it was blowing dirt and dust all over the place in the engine compartment.
Just need to do the final welds on all the new mounts and brackets and cross my fingers that it keeps it cool.

I used both upper and lower hoses for a '99 Explorer 5.0. '98 or '99 I believe was the first year they deleted the oil cooler/ filter gizmo so the lower hose runs straight from the water pump to the radiator. Any explorer 5.0 upper will work ('96-'01), just get the later model lower hose.
