Have had the howell TBI for 8 years and love it but on rare occasions it will sputter like it is empty, on the highway if tanks is under 1/2. i have a 23 gallon tank supposedly, what the guy i traded it for said Wild West offroad. Have no problems after works fine once i pull off the road, and still has plenty of gas. Need help on this Problem, afraid to drive past gas station on road trips.

your fuel pickup point maybe located too high on your fuel tank,or the filter maybe getting clogged. I also have the Howell sys. mine seems like it runs a little rich.

I would suggest that the first thing you need to do is hook up a fuel presure gage that you can read in the cab. Knowing exactly what your fuel pressure is doing when the problem occurs should tell you something about what's going on..or at least eliminate a lot of possibilities pretty quick.
