My DSO code is 89.

I looked it up and 89 is transportation services??? Rather than a city like most others codes I've seen.

Does anyone know what this is?

I read on a Mustang thread that DSO 89 transportation services was a special code for vehicles for Ford executives, magazine shoots, promotional vehicles?????????????

Anyone know if this is true??? and that this code is very rare for any model???

If so, that's pretty unusual sounding for one of our Broncos. I'd be over the years that there were probably quite a few, but that's the first time I've seen it come up in discussion.

Be interested to hear if you find out where it was used originally. Might have been a corporate big-wig for his hunting cabin or something!

Got my Marti Report Today seems there were 116 Broncos ordered with this DSO and my particular truck was a test model.

It was optioned pretty heavily, but the biggest thing I was impressed with is that it was ordered on 11/04/1975 and it was delivered on 11/17/1975.

I guess when Ford is ordering for themselves the turn around is pretty quick!

It didn't have to go very far to be delivered. :p

Might have been one that they used for some kind of EPA test. Does your Marti Report state specifically that it was "test model"?

The marti report states:

Test Vehicle

Dealer: 89276R
Ford Motor Company
RM3-060, EEE BLDG-PEO-ENG-TEST

I have had a guy here locally who's not on the board look it over and he worked in Ford plants forever, he said would be suprised more than 5% of the Test vehicles ever made it out to the public. He said that typically, once they were done testing them they would be used at the plants(if they were still able) and eventually scraped.

He was also shocked that this truck was pretty heavily optioned.

Power Steering
G78 x 15D White Sidewall Tires
Swing-Away Spare Tire Carrier
Left Hand Remote Mirror
Right Hand Chrome Mirror
Power Brakes
Rocker Panel Moldings
AM Radio
Free Running Front Hubs
Convenience Package
Sports Package

Stats:

1 of 448 with this paint code
1 of 86 with this paint/trim
1 of 9835 Engine/Tranny
1 of 116 From this DSO
1 of 2408 with Sports Package

Seeing that there were only 116 made for Ford, I wonder if this is one of the only ones left floating around. Kind of neat, who knows if it adds any value, but still cool to know!

If it were me, I would have little confidence driving that truck on the street. I mean who knows what kinds of horrible things Ford did to it under the guise of 'testing'.

If your peace of mind is important to you, send me a PM and I'll take it off your hands for a parts truck...or something.
