Most likely, your F'n speedo cable need to be lubricated. Disconnect the speedo cable from the back of the speedometer, and pull through the firewall. You can buy (used to be able to buy) speedometer cable lubricant. It was just graphite suspended in a solvent, to help wash the graphite down the cable housing. Do not use oil, WD-40, etc. It will make the problem worse.
