Hey trans experts. I have a slightly unusual 5spd transmission I need to identify.
It's got some of the look of an NV3550, but it's not as far as I can tell.
All aluminum, 2-piece case with no spacers in between.
Backup lamp switch on passenger side.
Drain in bottom, fill in driver's side.
Standard NP round bolting flange.
Some identifiers are:
Case length = 16.75" (just shy of actually, so more between 16 5/8 and 16 3/4)
Input shaft length = 7.375"
Diameter and splines = 1" 19 spline.
Pilot diameter = .75"
1st = 3.75 : 1
2nd = 2.25 : 1
3rd = 1.4 : 1
4th = 1 : 1
5th = .8 : 1 (approx.)
Rev = 3.5 : 1
Shifter boss bolt-pattern is 2.875" wide x 3.3125" (5/16) rectangular with no oddball outcroppings. No shifter present.
Oh, and the front bearing retainer/throwout bearing shaft has an odd bolting pattern. Not round or symmetrical like most, but oblong-ish.
That's about it until I can get pics of it. Owner says he was told it came from a TJ in a junkyard, but I've never heard of a TJ with a 1" x 19 spline input shaft. Only truck I can come up with that would have used that spec and had 4wd as an option was the '92/'93 Dodge Ram. Both V6 and V8 used this layout, but I can't find any mention of what type of trans they used.
Any thoughts? I'll get pics up as I can, but I just had to ask somebody!!! Not knowing is bugging me.
thanks
Paul
