what causes a stall when pressing the gas pedal while shifting, stalls for about a second then it goes

Miss adjusted or bad accelarator pump. Plugged passages inside the carb. Make sure all the passages are clear with a blast of carb cleaner. Any source of vacuum leak will interupt the transition between the idle and main circuts.
