Gonna need to replace my striker posts and was wondering what they weld up to - to be able to get their strength to handle the heavy door.
kickplate
rocker
etc.
etc.
Do you mean Hinge Post or Latch post? Hinge post welds to the cowl and kick panel /inner rocker, Latch post welds to the rear Quarter/inner rocker, Best way I've found Drill the spot welds to remove.
Brace everything as not to loose original form of dash and cowl, mark old location, remove, Hint, tech screw new post into place, hang door ,adjust to fit, weld post into place,
Here's how I did it. Took a lot of pictures from every angle. Then I removed the door, and front fender. I drilled out all the spot welds, did some cutting around the top and beat the shit out of it to get it out. Then I hung/beat the new one up there and clamped it in. I got the ones from Tom's Bronco and they were not perfect for me. All broncos are different and I had to modify them to work. Then I hung the front fender back on and bolted it in place using the origional markings in the paint as a guide. " i figured the front fender and door post were square before I yanked it out." Once I had the new door post square with the front fender I drilled and attached the post with screws. Hung the door and it was dead perfect. Did the same with passenger side and welded them in. Not a single measurement or templete used.
