I do not know what to say as far as how to ID a 3G but can tell you that they are on the 3.8 liter Taurus. I dont know anout MN but they are plentiful in the U jerk Yards here in California. I am very happy with my brand new second hand one from my local yard.

There are full-frontal pics on Ryan's site (www.fordfuelinjection.com and www.rjmtechnologies.com) that you can use to visually identify them too. Small case, large case, 1G, 2G, 3G, etc. All the way to 6G or thereabouts.

Good resource.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen a 3G with the fan on the outside.

I've never seen one either - rule of thumb, if it's a Taurus and the alternator is on top, it's a 3G. You can pull them in less then 5 minutes...

Right - all 3G & later have internal fans.
