What to do?
I am prep-ing my EB for paint and have been asking many questions. You guys have been great help and have another question if you don't mind. I had my bronco painted about 10 years ago and one day shortly after having it painted I decided to fold down the windshield to see how it would look. You guessed right, it was an awful idea. I messed up the paint on the hinge. It had factory primer-factory paint-new primer then new paint. I think there was just a slight paint thickness issue.
This time around, I have been taking each panel down to bare metal and plan on doing the same with the windshield frame and hinge. I want to paint the body surface under where the windshield attaches to the body. Also want to paint the windshield separate then joint the two together. I am afraid if I do it that way, I will mess up the paint on the hing again. I may want to fold it down now and then.
Have any of you done this before and had no problem with the paint messing up on the hinge? Any tricks will help. I mean, if the factory can do it I think we could?.
Also thought about going with a stainless steal W/S hinge to take this problem out of the equation, but think that is a little hassle. If I chose this route how hard is it to take off the original hinge and put the SS hinge on?
