Will a 98 F150 engine work in the Bronco? I have a friend that has one. He says that it is a 351W. If it will what will i need to swap it out? Thanks.
Well that sucks. Im supposed to go look at it. Ill take my EB so i can compare size.COBlu77 said:If it's a '98 F150 it will be a 5.4L or a 4.6L. Both would be way to wide.
Thanks. That aint even close. I guess its a no brainer that that engine wont be coming home with me. I appreciate the research.DebosDave'72 said:Here is a pic of the 5.0 and 4.6 side by side... just an idea why it is too big...
I got the pic off a post by 45acp (thanks)

To swap one of these you need a lot of money, some fabrication skills, and a bit of time...

Ive not looked at it but i guess ill pass on it this time. Thanks. FlashGrunt1058 said:5.8 = 351W
5.4 = big brother to the 4.6 which the 98 F150 could come with either.
I think you were right originally. All of the information I've been able to find says the last year of the 5.8 was in 1997.Broncobowsher said:If it is a '98 F250 or 350, then it could be a 5.8/351. That would be a good thing
I think ’98 was the last year for the old style trucks. Maybe it was ’97. Then if I am getting the year wrong, so did he.
There is something wrong. Either the engine is wrong (really a 5.4) or the year and/or model is wrong. When someone screws up like this it is often 1 of 2 things. Either he doesn’t know what he has and unloads it cheap. Or he thinks it’s gold and is asking too much.
He told me that it came out of a 97 or 98 and said he thought it was a 98. But i know he said it was a F150.SaddleUp said:I think you were right originally. All of the information I've been able to find says the last year of the 5.8 was in 1997.

I bet you can still get brand new engines in either size for marine applications.
I meant to today i just didnt get around to it. It was real nice outside today. I did take the Bronco out for a while.DebosDave'72 said:What you ought to do is go look at the motor, it will say 5.8 4.6 or 5.4 right on the intake most likely.
