my bronco won't shift out of 1'st gear on its own ( automatic transmission ), but i can maually shift it from D-1 to D-2 then to D-3 and it shifts fine. What's the deal, is it just linkage problems or what?

Where is the modulator valve and the vacuum line at? I'm kinda new at this...thank
the modulator is a diaphram assembly on the passenger side rear of the trans. you need to supply it with manifold vaccuum. Check all hose connections.
