Just curious if anyone ever uses that search box up there in the upper right? You know, the one that searches through the "Over 500 Links" section?

Seems like every day there's a question about how to find a link or some specific Bronco web page and most of them could be answered in 2 seconds using that search box.

Maybe no one knows it's there? Maybe no one knows what it does? Maybe I'm just being a jerk to even bring it up? ;)

I use it often and find it very usefull. It was kind of confusing at first though and some tip use might be in order.

Such as:
Set the minumim and maximum age you want to search.
Set where you want to search.
Set number of posts you want displayed.
Try varrious key words that relate to your search and do multiple searches using the differant key words to find what your looking for.

Anyway, I got to go to work. But if anyone has some more or better tips, pass them on here. Then someone new, or someone old like me who forgets, can just do a search on tips or search or search tips.

I have used it with moderate success. Sometimes it finds what I want and other times :p. One change might be to add a radio button - search all postings. I never remember how long ago a post was. So the search back 30 days might not find it, I keep having to run the search increasing the days back to look.

thanks

Well I'm glad a few people use it. :p

But I think some of you are talking about the forums search feature, which is different than the search box in the upper right.

The search box in the upper right will search through the "Over 500 Links" section and is useful when looking for web pages or tech articles on certain Bronco topics (like "disc brakes", "EFI", "transmissions", etc.)

The forums search feature is the text link that shows up when you're in the forums. (It's just below the other search box. Up there with "Home | Help | Search | Chat, etc.") That search will look through past posts in the forums.

Admittedly the forum search is a little buggy. It works best if you can limit it to a single word or an exact phrase in order. Like it will find "disc brakes" but not "brakes disc". That search is a built in part of the forum software and hopefully in a future upgrade they will fix it. I'm not even going to try to mess around with all that code. I'd probably wipe out the whole forum!

I like the forum search. As for the links search it's easier to click on the links on the left, and then I get distracted looking at other links I'm interested in.

Jon,
I have used the Forum search many times; but never the links search.
I love Jeepster's idea about a top "ten". That would be cool.
Jon you have the best web site there is! Hell, I spend more time here than at the porno sites. ;D

I searched for myself and didn't find me so it was little help in figuring out where I was when I was here all along.
