Saginaw PS pump pressure fitting leaks

I bought this adapter from Wild Horses to attach my stock power steering pressure hose to the back of my Saginaw pump. Now it's leaking. I'm fairly certain the leak is at this adapter. Should there be an o-ring in there someplace? Help!

On the flare end you shouldn't put anything on the threads. The flare end is just Male to female flare with no thread sealant needed. I can't tell what the other side looks like from your pic.

The end of the adapter that we can not see in the picture should have 45* chamfer to match the cone inside the pump. No O-rings or sealent needed. Look closely at the cone inside the pump. It may be damaged.

I went through the same issue last month...after replacing it twice, I put some Napa hydrolic Hi Temp sealer on the threads, it stopped the leaking.

There is a stock application hose that has the correct fittings for a standard thread Saginaw pump and stock Bronco PS box.

Omega power steering p/n 535
Duralast/Edelman/Powercraft 71308
Ford applications:
1965 - 1966 Country Sedan
1965 - 1966 Galaxie
1965 - 1966 Country Squire
1965 - 1966 Galaxie 500
1965 - 1966 Custom
1965 - 1966 LTD
1965 - 1966 Custom 500
1965 - 1966 Ranch Wagon

You can even get it amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Edelmann-7130..._4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1276621361&sr=1-4

Should be less than $20 at the local parts store. It's 3/8 male inverted flare by 7/16 male inverted flare. There's a 90* bend on the pump end and a slight bend at the box end. Depending on how close the pump bracket is to the box, you may need to do some trimming. I'll try to remember to take a picture tonight.

Awesome information. I'm going to see if I can get one.

Here's the hose in my Bronco. 5.0 Econoline serpentine brackets on a 5.8. You can see how close it is to the PS pump bracket but I think just about any hose would be close to that bracket.

Just in case anyone stumbles across this in the future, the Napa part number for the correct hose gddyap was so kind to direct me towards is NPS71145. It runs $22.49.

Autozone has it as part#71308. Their price is $17.99.
