It has been a while so another refresher class in weight codings
GVW Gross Vehcile Weight, the max weight the vehicle is certified to weight with passengers/payload.
GAWR Gross Axle Weight Rating (front and rear), the most weight that axle is rated to weight when you run that single axle over the scales.
Note the GVW is always less then the GAWRs combined. If it were not then you could never reach GVW as you would be exceeding the the GAWRs.
Then there is the GCWR Gross Combined Weight Rating which is the max weight of the vehicle and trailer. Note that the GVW nor the GAWRs can be exceeded when loaded to GCWR.
Now all those ratings. What do they mean? Well they are ratings. For the most part it states that the vehicle will not be damaged as long as you stay under the limits and it complies with the safety standards of the day as the vehicle was originally equipped. Lifted, larger tires are not as originally equipped. You may have tires that have a higher load rating but that does not mean the brakes or wheel bearings are any better.
Now all of this is ratings. Great, you still don't know what they weigh. I have seen people have very stripped versions down around 3300 Lb and loaded trail rigs over 3 tons. I rolled across the scales at the race track at about 2 tons with me in it and little extra on it. The heaviest I rolled across the scales was nearly 5 tons coming off a gravel yard pulling a trailer. It was only 2 miles back to the house and that was over loaded. I pulled a load of wet dirt once at night that I know was way heavier then any of the gravel runs I ever did. Pulling the load was no problem, safe handling and safe braking was another story.
