I think this is what I have, based on pics. It's not installed anymore (something to do with gram-maw Poppaw and a tractor) always worked when we needed it, we used it more for pulling others out. Had to keep chains to tie off to a tree most the time or we would just pull ourselves to them. A friend of the family rebuilt the motor in it and gave it back to me when I became the owner. All that said it's a heavy winch and way more than needed don't know if I'll re install mine or sell and get a smaller one that can fit behind a bumper. (I like the cleaner look without hiding the front end).

Hey!!! Let me hold a dollar I'm in the middle of a restore here!

Nice find,. I'd have one of those on my old girl except the arm to control it was busted and couldnt find a replacement so it went in a sale of a 66. Be careful with that control arm!!

Yeah that's the only thing that sucks about is. They don't make parts for it anymore. I'm just happy it works! I tested it out today with jumper cables. I still need to figure out how to run the cable controller thing. I might need new fuel line cable too. It would be nice if I could fine a new controller kit

I actually found a link to herm today and was happy to find that someone sell parts lol... My drum brake arm is very stiff to apply and release the brakes. Mule would you know how to adjust the tension of the drum arm? I started losing the bolt where it mounts, but it felt like that was just to hold it on. I'm excited to get this this working and mounted, it's pretty cool!! Everything seems to work good on it

Sounds like you need to pull the arm/brake off and lube the pivot bolt. You also need to glue the brake lining back on the band.

There is an adjusment nut attached to the bottom of the brake band. As you adjust it out the arm will adjust closer to the winch. It doesn't take very much tension to apply the brake. The break will bring the winch to a complete stop with only a light amount of pressure... The brake works extremely well!

Just a Ford guy, you're right about the lining. What type of glue works for that? I was thinking about ordering a new one from herm, but they're $55 bucks and the only problem with mine is it came unglued....

Do you guys that have these recommend keeping the cable system with the spool and one way motor? I'm thinking of getting rid of the pull switch for a button switch off a solenoid.. I have so much to learn about this thing still, but it definitely is a pretty unique winch and very heavy duty so I'm going to focus on getting it going and keeping it working. The guy I bought it from told me It came factory installed on the guys Bronco that he bought it from

I used contact cement to hold the brake liner on over 15 years ago and it's still on.

I wired mine up with a solenoid under the hood and momentary switch on the dash.

I have one of these as well that works properly except when I filled it up with gear oil the seal on the side is leaking and it all leaked out after about 2 days. Anybody know where to get a replacement?

Trapey74 can you please post a picture of your bumper so I can see how you mounted it?

Does anyone know if bumpers made for the Warn 8274 will work?

My bumper was made by a metal shop here in town long before I got the bronco. I want to take it back to the guy and get the "wings" off of there and just have one bar of the middle section left on the bumper. Here is one of the pics, don't have a view down into the hole where winch is mounted today but can tomorrow

Either that or take the top rails above each headlight and the sides off and just leave middle part and the very bottom bar going over to the edge of grill/front quarter Panel

The bumpers should work but you may have to drill a couple new holes. I have both the 5687 and 8274. When I installed the 8274 on my bumper, the holes do not line up exactly, but it wasn't difficult to modify and get a fit.
