Can I Lubr mine (without breaking the bank)?

74, cut, will get new fenders, and I've always wanted a LUBR.

Non-negotiable items are the tires. Gift from the wife. BFG A/T 33x12.5x15 on some type of M/T Classic II wheels.

I will never go rock crawling or heavy mudding - just some light off-roading. I don't need the tires to get stuffed into the wheel wells. in fact, I'm okay with the tires being outside the wheel wells, with the right amount of space.

Oh, and I have stock suspension with a 2" body lift.

How much SL would I need? More SL and less BL? Here's mine now, and I love the look of this blue one.

Throw your ideas at me!

Thanks!

Jim

I have 33x12.5r15 on mine but it's got 3.5" suspension and 3" body lift. I could probably get away with losing an inch lift but not much more. The rear tires do rub the lip when flexed out off-road but if you're only doing gravel roads it wouldn't be an issue. I'll try to get on a regular computer and post pics I can only post one at a time from the iPhone.

Yours are already mounted on the wheels Obscure? Do you know the specifications?

What about yours 66? What width and backspacing did you go with?

Paul, I don't know the specs on the wheel, although they're pretty deep, so Im guessing very little backspacing.

Great looking setup. But rub-city looks like from here.
You'd need a pretty tall lift. And all that implies...

Of course, if you're like many of us, by the time you get the fenders back to uncut, your tires will be all plumb wore out anyway. Then you can trade someone that wants the wider wheels for some narrower ones, buy your new, narrower tires, and away you go.;D

Hey, it could work...;)

3 1/2'' spring lift. 2 inch body lift to get 33'' tires under it.

Yep Id say minimum 5.5" lift which would be a pain to climb in and out of.

The 12.5" width is your problem. I have 32" tires with a 3.5" suspension lift but they are 10.5" wide

It's not that I'm 50 and getting to old to get out of a rig like that. It's that I'm fat and have short legs. Plus my wife is a 5' tall ballet dancer and would need a ladder.

*thinking............thinking............thinking.......

Sounds like the best course of action for the moment is to leave it cut. Easier than trying to explain why something you just have to have now, does not fit with something your wife paid good money and time to get you.;)
Besides, it's a great looking rig and they all like it. Doesn't get much better than that. And having your wife on board (literally and figuratively) is priceless!

I'm not sure what backspacing the wheels are I never measured it. The guy I bought them from ran them on his 1995 F150. Actually looking at it they might even be the same wheels Jim has on his rig haha. As you can see they rub the rear quarters at stuff but I'm pretty sure they would be ok if I just rolled that lip.

You are going to get new front fenders and re-do the rear quarters back to stock? You must really want a LUBR bad.

LUBR 3 1/2" Lift - 265/70/17s (32x10.50s) on a 17x8" wheel with 4.5" Back Spacing. Perfect fit and looks great. The Orange 69 in my Garage has this combo.

A LOT more lift is needed if you cannot tuck the tires inside rear fenders. I would guess your current wheels are 3.75" back spacing. I might add a 3 1/2" SL to your 2" BL.

LUBR has been a dream of mine for a long time. But on this rig it is probably and unreasonable goal. Plus I like this bronco kind of the way it is. So maybe that means a second bronco!

Be trick, make the truck go both ways, make the truck with 2 sets of outer quarters with hidden fasteners. Then you can swap at will. Just paint both sets at the same time so when you swap they match. Here today gone tomorrow.

or meet in the middle and graft the front sheet metal flairs on to the rear quarters the way Ford should have built it.
