Have used all 4 links provided to decode my 1973 Bronco VIN card.
Broncohio.com & Performance Unlimited work.
Michael Masse’s URL not found.
WSU.edu server stopped responding.
Need info on 3 codes.
Model is U153? I find U152 but not U153?
R? Color code on top line of VIN card. Two colors? Lt Aqua or Ginger Metallic? My Bronco has been repainted Lime Green Metallic. Hoping Model code might give me some more info on original color?
Rear axle code is B8Q? I can find B8 but not B8Q?

Thx. I found some info on U153 looking further online.
I was really trying to find my trim package to restore truck to original.
I am guessing Explorer.
Bright chrome trim. Swing mount spare tire. No white lower body decals.
Basic black vinyl? Definitely no plaid seat trim? But has rear seat.
Sound right?

Trim code should be on your warranty plate on the glove door. Just to the right of the u153

Couldn’t wait. Went down and took photo of glove box plate tonight.
Does C92 look right for trim code? Only code not on wallet size VIN card.

To the right of the 153, to the left is the 092, that's the wheel base in inches

Now we're talking, C4 is Ginger Ranger front buckets with rear seat. So definitely a Ranger.

Thx. Nice to know? So now I only need to know badges, trim and decals to move forward?
I have the most popular Bronco aftermarket books.
Ford Bronco 4x4 performance portfolio 1966-1977. And A History of Ford’s Legendary 4x4 by Zuercher?
Any thoughts for more detail info?
Thx so much for help!

Those are great, I'm not a Ranger/Explorer person. A Marti Report like Slowleak mentioned above will give you the details particular to your bronco.
Slowleak can help you with the Ranger questions too :)

Odd VIN on passenger side frame *F13

I picked up a 1966 Bronco a little over a year ago and have been casually trying to get up to speed on all things Bronco. The VIN listed on in cab stamps and on title all match. U13FL7665968. It has a 289 (which looks period correct) in lieu of a inline 6. Do to this discrepancy I cleaned 50 years of crud of frame rail and was surprised to see *F13FL7665968* . Any thoughts?

I have this and can't understand it in full.

U15NL837381

092 W U150 798 C 03

510444

U15 is Wagon and N is 289 and L is Michigan Truck plant. Got that so far.

092 is 92" wheelbase. W is ? U150 Wagon body? 798 I have no clue. C is 3 speed manual?
03 is 4.11 open diff axles?

Curious on color (W for Marlin Blue?) and trim package. Going to be a mostly street use play toy. Planning on Explorer or Mustang 5.0 and AX15 5 speed. Any other help and info appreciated. I'm told it's a 66 but I'm also the 4th or 5th owner since it's begun it's "restoration". Has a 300 6 and original 3 speed which are both coming out.
