Original 302 value/what do

The original 302 came with my bronco along with a rebuilt 302. PO already had the original pulled with intention to replace. The reason he was replacing is because it had become "sluggish". That being said, I have no idea of the shape it's really in. I stole the original valve covers, oil pan, and throttle linkage for current bronco.
Long post for a short question...Is there any value in this thing? Scrap?

Thanks

Depends on the bore. If it's a standard bore and can be bored .030 over, it's worth a hundred dollars or two.

It's value to you personally depends on what you want to end up with in the Bronco. Nothing wrong with rebuilding the original with some updated goodies, as long as it's in good and relatively unmolested condition now, as Justin was saying.
After at least 40 years (what year is your Bronco?) a lot of things could have gone on inside it. Only way to know is to open it up.

As far as sales value, as said about 100 bucks if you're lucky. I say "lucky" because with you not really knowing the true condition of the engine, it's sketchy at best for someone to buy into it without some sort of guarantee of even their little bit of money back if it turns out to be a useless core for whatever reason.
So that reduces your buyer's pool substantially.

The people that they're worth the most to are those doing a religious restoration where they are looking for an engine that was cast a month or two before the build date of their Bronco. But there are not a lot of those people in the world yet either. The number is growing, but it's not at that critical mass yet where an unknown engine is worth much just because it's date-correct-ish.

Good luck.

I would be interested in the carb and exhaust manifolds depending on condition. If it was a runner you could probably get a couple hundred for it, but as a core not quite as much. The Bronco specific items on it are where I see any value.

for some reason, I like to keep them around. I have 2 sitting on the floor right now, you just never know what your going to be building in the future.

Thanks guys.
I thought about keeping it around but would like the floor space back. Everyone is basically confirming what I thought all along.
Broncodriver, I'll pull the carb and manifold and let you know what they look like.

Decided to just pull this thing apart and boy am I glad I didn't sell it to anyone! This is the fist piston that I pulled. I guess it would be a little "sluggish" lol

Also, I'm not much of an engine guy, so is it somewhat common for the rings to come out in pieces? Most of these did. I realize this engine was neglected but still curious if that's common.

In my experience, not that common at all. I have pulled apart engines that have been absolutely hammered, thrown rods, split blocks, etc. that have had intact rings. Have had a few with one, maybe two pistons come out with rings in pieces, not one where most are.

Very uncommon to find broken rings. When you do they were usually broken when first installed. Broken pistons skirts however....very common on 289 and 302 engines and has no noticeable effect on performance typically.

Ill just keep everything else around for a bit. I got it all apart and off the engine stand so it fits on a shelf out of the way.
Thanks for all the replies.
