• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I have a tub and frame available. These are not from the same Bronco. Frame is a '72 I believe and the tub is 74+ due to the driver wheel well having the indentation for power steering.

I was planning on listing the two of these for $7,500 OBO just to see what happened, but as I was taking the pictures this afternoon, I realized the tub is in worse shape than I remember. Passenger quarter has more rust damage than I previously thought and the cowl has been patched which I hadn't noticed before.

The frame is in OK shape. The area around the steering box has been reinforced and the rear horns need some work. The VIN is still in the CA DMV system, so there are back registration fees due on it. I have no title. I am at least the third owner to have this frame without paperwork. According to the DMV website, it was last registered in CA seven years ago. Vehicles are supposed to fall out of the system after 10 years, so if that actually happens, it should be registerable without the back fees in three years.

If you're interested, let's talk. With this setup, I have seven Broncos and I'm trying to clear out some room. Will obviously need to be trailered. It is fairly easy to roll around on a couple of furniture dollies.

At this time I will not separate the two unless two individual buyers come by at the same time. Also, because I know people are going to ask, the fastback isn't for sale unless you're offering stupid money for it.

I believe if you make an inquiry to the DMV it starts the 7 years all over again. I think it is 7 years of NO activity.

There is a self help link on the DMV website where you can put in a VIN and it will tell you the back fees due. Several people, including a well known local DMV consultant who helps out a lot of classic car guys have told me this online tool doesn't count as being looked up by the DMV.

I've also been told since I posted this that vehicles no longer fall out of the system period.

Like anything DMV related, you get six different stories when talking to six different people. Regardless, I'm not planning on registering this. Potential buyers will need to do their own research and determine what steps they will need to take to get a title. I'm happy to pass on the number of the DMV consultant for questions to potential buyers.
