I used a fitting from Summit Racing and its been over 3 years with no problems

Believe they have 15 different fittings. Ive attached photos of a few. One even specifies power steering

Don't use aluminum fittings for the PS pressure side, they can't handle the 1800psi that those pumps generate. They may last a while, but you never know when it will let go.

I'm just going on my experience. I " think" all would potentially work except for the Earl. I do believe that the extra length would depress the bypass in the TC style pump in a explorer serpentine system. Lee's , WH' and Hydratech are all very close in length. I could be wrong, not to big to admit it. Just trying to contribute; this forum has been quite helpful/ knowledgeable in my quest fix my '74.

>>> here's another steel fitting that works without leaking a drop.... I switch to this fitting about 1500-2000ish miles ago after running the wrong one/style sealed with "the right stuff" sealant for a long time... anyway, the new fitting I'm using has a O-ring under the head like the wildhorses & hydratech fittings.... >> part# 816MM-6-16x1.5-WO ($4.70) from FittingsandAdapters.com...... http://fittingsandadapters.com/maljictomalm.html .... not sure of the O-ring material... was going to change to Viton or similar, but was impatient....also didn't use the washer that came with the fitting 'cause it won't let the O-ring sit in the chamfered section of the pump.... pic below installed.....

Yep. Looks almost the same as the one my hydraulics shop sold me for about $5. They even let me bring it home and test it out to make sure it would seat all the way before they charged me. Had them make my hoses too. I had to use the washer that came with mine for the proper depth. It was too long without it. Been workin for a year and a half now. No problems. In the end i think they forgot to charge me for the fitting

The fitting is the problem

Wow, thanks for all the feedback.....I am using the incorrect fitting. The O ring seat slips into the pressure tube, not over it. This is most likely the issue.
Thanks for the help.

FYI,

By the way do not use the AEROQUIP FBM2608 AN-6 ADAPTER
or anything similar in the powering steering port if you are using the Explorer TC pump.
Did a powering steering box conversion from a 6 turn to a 3 turn box. Changed all the lines to use -6AN fittings. Used the aforementioned fitting and lost all power unless I had the engine at high idle. After much trouble shooting and finally dead headed the pump , to find I had no pressure at all. Long story short, the fitting is to long and depresses the bypass valve. In fact, it pushed it down enough to permanent keep the pump in bypass mode.
Another source for the proper fitting fot the TC pump is :
www.hydratechbraking.com
part # HBS9405 $19.95
the are located in Lebanon, Tn (615) 449-8261

were you able to pull that back out on the pump where it was pushed in too far or did you get a new pump. reason I ask friend of mine just did this and he has no pwr steering, I bet that is what has happened.
