We have a 4r70W transmission with US Shift harness and Art Carr/Winters shifter. Lokar shift lever on the trans case. However, we are uncertain about the position of the shift lever. What is the correct position of the lever to attach to the cable? Also, looking at the lever from inside the case, which direction is the selector in the Park position? Maybe obvious but we're not seeing it. Thanks in advance. Mark

Rotate the shift shaft to its stop, try and turn the output shaft.
Try the other stop as well.

It will lock in one of those stops, that is park.

All the way forward or all the way back depends on if the cable is above or below the shift shaft. You can flip the shift arm for clearance, but that reverses the cable to work it.

It should be set up so that the lever on the trans is pointing either straight up or down when the shifter is in neutral. Up or down determines whether the cable comes from the front or rear of the vehicle.

I used the stock column and rod (after adjusting the length) and I had to flip the lever down to make it go in the correct direction. Downside is once in a while the front drive shaft will make contact and shift it into neutral!

Okay, we have the pattern sorted out but can't get the shift detents to line up with the gate on the Carr/Winters shifter. About a half gate off in each position. Any advice on this? Thanks, Mark

The lever on the trans should either be straight up or down when in neutral. If not, the lever is not in the right spot.
