While the cage is out getting finished up and ready for paint, I found some time to apply Raptor liner. Good stuff, prep is key as the spraying part is very easy. I used 6 bottles. I also had a "helper", Buster the bull!!! Such a nice guy who loves to be pet on his head.

Got the cage prepped, painted and installed. Tied into six body mounts as well as other numerous bolts in the mounting plates. Seats and dash will go in this week, then time to drive it!!

Started working on replacing the passenger side rocker this week. Two of these rocker panels came with the bronco. Now it makes sense why they cut the drivers side outer rocker like they did. I ordered a new complete outer rocker for the drivers side but think I can make this work on the passenger side as the top sill part of the rocker is in good shape. I mocked it up and made my first cut, taking off the top part of the replacement rocker (red line, 2nd pic). I removed the rest of the outer rocker on the bronco and was able to trim it up enough to get it to fit but still more trimming will be needed. I am thinking I will trim more off the replacement rocker (red line, 5th pic). If I can get this finished up this weekend, I will work on the drivers side.

Got the passenger rocker done, took longer than I expected but it is done. Went to fit up the new rocker on the drivers side that I got from WH and noticed an issue. It was not welded correctly from the manufacture, so I had to drill out the spot welds, and adjust the 2 pieces. Once happy with it I welded it back up and have it held in by screws right now. Should have some time to get it welded up this week as I plan to take it to the lake for our annual Easter camping trip.

Wow, lotta work! But great work by you.
Too bad we can't get stuff that fits every time though. Maybe we should just tell the importers to tell their manufacturers to just leave the complex pieces in pieces so the end-user can fit them up on the vehicle!:-[

Hey, if nothing else the parts would at least be less expensive.%)

Oh, and was there a name on the box by any chance? Dynacorn, Drake, or something else maybe?
Might be nice to be able to give some feedback if it's one of the companies with people at the other end of the phone.

Thanks

Paul

Paul, I will take a look at the box tonight when I get home and let you know. I wasn't taking a shot at WH, sorry if it came off that way, more so the manufacture . It would actually be nice if it came in two pieces, making it cheaper would be a bonus, I would like it more for the fact that if you only needed the sill plate or bottom part of the rocker you could use it that way. Also it was easier mocking it up in two pieces vs. one but easily doable as one piece. Bottom part was spot welded back about 1/4" too far. Really not that hard to fix, hey it let me practice my welding skills too!

Not at all! I didn't even remotely take it that way either.
Just wanted to vent my own feelings on the subject and (in a backward kind of way) say thanks for dealing with it at your end and not being upset about it.
Well, in public anyway!;)

Thanks for sure. Definitely interested to hear who made yours if the box shows. Otherwise I'll just check at this end and maybe we'll get lucky and only use one manufacturer in this case. But that's why I was asking you first. Sometimes we have multiple vendors until we weed out the ones that are suspect.
We've actually had to do that on multiple body parts over the years. Sometimes even the manufacturer that we get some of the best parts from will stumble on a certain part and needs to get some feedback from the field.
Think rear corner/tail lamp sections. Don't know if you remember that debacle!

And more recently the front fender aprons and core supports. There is this little roughly triangular corner brace that hides up under the corner of the front fender so you don't normally see it unless you peek up under there and look for it.
Well, both the core support and the apron had one welded to them. That leaves the installer with two of the braces and nowhere for one of them to go!
If they were separate, it'd just be a nice extra part to practice welding on. But being welded to each piece already means that the installer had to choose which one fits the best and remove the other one.

Guess it takes time to copy a part correctly...%)

Not upset at all Paul I figured there would be some tinkering. The box only had wild horses logo on it. It is the deluxe rocker made with OEM tooling if that helps you narrow down the supplier. Anyways all welded up so that is a good thing.
