Due to more orange peel than I could accept, I ended up wet-sanding it down and re-shooting the base colors. Colors ended up OK, but the clear-coat ended up with too much orange peel, so I'll try to correct it tomorrow.

Heck yeah. Peel or not, mistakes or not (potato chip oil contamination or not!) that's one fine looking paint scheme you got going on there Howard!
Like it a lot.

Lol, good one, BronCowie! Oh, how I wish it were so! More ineptitude today - I sanded the orange peel off the clear-coat and re-sprayed and now I have miniscule dirt specks in the clear-coat. Don't know exactly where the specks came from, or how to get rid of them, heck, darn, dummit. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.......

Howard, couldn't you have color sanded that orange peel and hit it with a wheel? I have done that before and came out nice. By the way that hood looks really good. Ken

Ken, perhaps, ^ , what is "color sanded"? I'm a newbie at this and don't mind learning, but it's sure seeming to be that I'm a very slow learner. I have been following some tips and advice from the paint supplier (Ray, at Wyricks, in Zeeland, very nice people), but what I'm learning the most is that Murphy's Law has NOT been repealed. I'd love to be done with the hood and move on to other pieces and parts...... Btw, thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I really do enjoy sharing what I'm sort of learning, maybe......

Color sanding is basically block sanding with water to knock down the high spots on your orange peel. Usually orange peel is thick enough to take down to a smoother surface then hit it with a buffing wheel and compound. Ken

Thanks a lot, Ken, I'll give 'er a try! I've already re-re-re-done almost everything else, so color-sanding it is! Oh, and I'll follow the wise consul of another Bronco buddy earlier in this thread who said, "YouTube is your friend".

It was wise RSPD505, and Ken, you were spot on! Not perfect, but better, as my lovely wife would say; more gooder as I would say. Maybe now I can set the hood scoop aside and move on to some of the other tasks that the voices in my head have been whispering about.....

Well, it's still not done yet, and I'm still not dead yet, but I'm pullin' the plug on it - for now. Burned through with the buffer, a time or nine, but it's close enough for now. Still have to set the body on the chassis to align stuff, so I'll wait until things (like the hood) are properly aligned. Again, merci beaucoup for the wise advice and encouraging words!

Now just an LED strip under the lip of the scoop and you're set! LOL!

Just kidding, but I do like what you're thinking about on the tail lights!

The shape of the hood scoop reminds me of the Mustang front end. It's Ford and it fits perfectly.

A glass version with all that area open for 351 height engines is what I predict for a proper spin off of your masterpiece.
