We have a couple of kits too: http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/category/broncohydraulicsteeringparts that I've used on different Explorer setups.
I like the make-yer-own method personally. You get to route it any which way you want.

My favorite so far is to run the hose toward the passenger side, loop it around and under the main Explorer serpentine bracket and along it's underside, then straight out to the box.
This is not only clean and safe, not in the way of any other items (usually) but also has some nice convenient handy studs (water pump or serp bolts?) to fasten hose clamps to so the hydraulic line can never flip around and rub anything it shouldn't. Not that it would, but you can't be too careful about that stuff.

Sorry for the long description, but I have not been able to find the pics I took of one. Was looking for another thread here too, but haven't found them yet.

I simply took my Bronco lower hose and my junkyard Explorer upper hose to the hydraulic house here in Orlando and they made one hose out of the two. And it was only like $26 total cost.

But like Paul I really like the idea of making my own hose and being able to do my own fixes. And was on my way to do that until the extremely inexpensive opportunity I mentioned above fell in my lap.

I'm working on a n Explorer swap. That list is pretty intimidating! I have the aftermarket quick steer box that is 5/8-18. What parts do I need???? Sorry I'm confused, but appreciate the help.
Tyler

If you're talking about using the explorer PS hose, you need:

1 - Explorer power steering hose
1 - 3/8" inverted flare x 5/8-18 tube nut

Thanks guys. Yes, explorer hose. My original thought was custom hose until I read about the adapters.

1 - 3/8" inverted flare to 5/8-18 adapter (if available)

Doing some searching it appears both fittings are readily available. Just to be clear will those fittings do the trick without cutting the tube and flaring it??? My goal is to use the hose as is, but with adapters if possible.

Here's what I found:

Might be able to get them at the hardware store for less.

Thanks,

No, those won't work. That tube nut is for 3/16 tube, not 3/8. And (to do it the way I did) you do need to cut the stock 16mm Explorer fitting off, then flare the 3/8 tube nut on the remaining tube. In the end you will have a hose with one end metric and the other SAE. Here's what you need:

This already has 5/8-18 threads, so no adapter needed. My box has 5/16 threads, so I needed the additional adapter.

Thank you. I thought in the tech article they were explaining a way to do it with only fittings and no cutting/flaring. Less pieces is probably best anyhow like you suggest.

In the tech article, they convert both the pump and box to -6 AN and then make/buy a -6 AN hose to connect the two. Absolutely nothing wrong with going that way if you choose; I was just showing how I did it with the hose I already had.
