On my 69 bronco I would like to put 31x10.5x15 tires, also installing a 351w, keeping the 3spd. Will be cutting thr wells. Do I have to install a 2.5in suspension lift or can I get away with a 1in body lift. Want to keep a lower profile. Also is there anything else I need to think about installing the 351? Bronco will be more of a road queen

One inch body lift is a good idea.

A cut Bronco will fit 31's easy.
An uncut Bronco can fit them but it may take a little lift and very precise wheel back spacing selection.

351W
The vendors sell adapter brackets to install the 302 accessories on it.
The one inch body lift will help. The Windsor is a little taller.

With flares and trimming you can fit 33 12.50 with no lift at all. And still use it.

Body lift helps make room for the 351, but they can fit without it. Just more restricted on induction choices.

If you cut the fenders and install 31x10.50s you don't need any lift.

A 351W with a stock hood will need a 1-2" Body Lift depending on Intake and Air Cleaner.

There are several people out there who have put in a 351w with no body lift and and stock hood. It can be done.

But adding an inch of body lift gives a lot more options.

Cut the wheel wells. The truck just looks better that way. Once that's done, there's no clearance problems with 31" tires. A common myth is the so called need for a body lift. Just do what Ford would have done, if they took their heads out of their a..... and made the 351 an option. The '69 Mustang 351w 4bbl only needs a modified Bronco 289-302 oil pan, to be a direct swap. Crown Vic 351W pans from the '80s are a cheap substitute. The EB air cleaner works better than any after market type, and the stock '69 4 bbl intake works perfectly. All the problems are the result of installing higher intakes and trying later 351 pulley systems. The '69-'70 Mustang 351W includes all the adapters needed for the swap. These are now cloned by EB vendors. The harmonic damper, fly wheel, and torque converter on EB 289-302s work with any 351W.

So it's been a while since I poked this thread, I am going with the new Dennis Carpenter quarters and normal front fenders, I still have a 1 inch body lift. Will 33x12.5's on 15x8's work on this. Going to complete paint in the next few weeks and put it back on the body. Looking at KO2s.

I’m going to say yes. 33’s fit on unlifted cut broncos so with the 1” you should be okay. You willing to trim some metal up front if it rubs on turns? Or maybe put one of the new 1.5” suspension lifts from WH? Or maybe doing 32x11.5 which have a similar look?

My guess is You are going to have to trim the fender bottoms a little to fit the 12" wide tire. I just put 33x 10.50 x15s on my 70 with no body or suspension lift. I used a 8" wide rim 3.75" back spacing and it clears fine but my bottom fender edges have been trimmed. I also never plan to take this one offroad, if I was to flex the suspension I am sure it would hit. I with 1" body lift you may get away with it.

Fitment was not perfect, but it turned out well. Light skim coat was needed on both sides for different reasons. Love the look! Still do not understand why it took 53 years to come up with these panels. The reason for 33's is I found them $20 each cheaper than the 32s.. save a $100 on the 5 KO2s
