A couple weeks ago I picked up this center console at an estate sale, I love it, it fits well, can keep a six pack of your favorite beverage cool, and the price was right

Nice Console lol :) Whatever works right

Well after a couple hundred miles of driving the bronco I finally broke something. My kids have been dying for me to pick them up from school in the bronco and on the first attempt I made it to the school but blew a power steering line in the parking lot lol. They were pretty bummed they wouldn’t get to ride home in it but we’ll try again soon.

Pretty quick and easy fix but the engine and headers got soaked in ps fluid and there was a LOT of smoke so I decided to tow it home, clean everything, and fix the leak before trying to drive it and risking a fire.

Good to go. Let’s see what bugs we can shake out next

Over the last couple days I’ve been working on some of the smaller things on the to-do list

Shift knobs from Tom’s and some shift boots which I still need to bolt down.

Rear view mirror to keep an eye on the kids lol

Radiator overflow tank/ windshield fluid tank combo. I used the bracket designed by JSmall and sold by Tom’s. Easy, clean, and secure. Also mounted my horn to the bracket.

Hopefully this will make my keys easier to find lol

Well I’ve been driving the bronco just about everywhere for the last month so I’m officially calling it my daily driver

There’s been a lot of fine tuning things like adjusting the shift linkage, clutch adjustment, getting all the gauges working properly, etc, and there are still a bunch of little things to do but for now she runs and drives awesome!

The only problem I’ve had so far was the power steering hose I blew in the kids parking lot at school and today we made the 40 mile round trip in the bronco with no issues at all.

The engine runs right at 190*, doesn’t leak anywhere, and when I changed the oil after the initial break in there wasn’t even a hint of metal on the magnetic drain plug or inside the filter as far as I could tell (I cut it open).

With all that being said I think I might change plans again to give myself something to do... I was planning on putting a soft top on and calling it good but now I’m considering a hard top and full interior what do you boys think?

Oh and one last thing, I’m pulling off the rear bumper and painting it tomorrow so that will be done finally. And since we all love bronco pictures here’s a couple for your visual enjoyment

I’ve been having a hard time getting my 3 speed with a floor shifter into second gear, I’ve played around with the linkage and it’s gotten a lot better but I noticed that the bracket holding the shifter down was home made by some previous owner and wasn’t doing a very good job. So today I was adjusting the linkage a little more and running through gears in the garage when the home made bracket broke and shifter completely detached from the transfer case!
Luckily I was sitting in the garage when this happened and I was already planning on replacing the brackets and had ordered new ones on Saturday so those should be here tomorrow or Thursday.

Since the bronco is out of commission until my shifter brackets get delivered, I decided to pop the cover on the front diff and change the oil since I’ve never done it on this truck and god knows when it was last done. Plus I had a small drip coming from the bottom of the cover so this was a good time to take care of that.

The oil didn’t look terrible but there was a lot of sludge in the bottom of the pumpkin that I had to scrape out by hand.

There were some ridges along the bottom of the diff side of the mating surface from it bouncing off rocks at some point and I’m guessing that’s what was causing my drip, I filed those back down flush to give the cover a flat mating surface.

Front is done, now I’m deciding if I want to pull the axles to do the rear, I’ve topped off the fluid but haven’t been inside yet. And if I do pull the axles and drop the 3rd member, do I want to go ahead and change bearings and seals while I’m in there? I’m thinking probably yes but not tonight. Lol

Well thanks to the legendary Tito I now have a top on my bronco! Not only did he give me a top (yes gave it to me for free) he helped me install it. Such a nice guy

This should help a lot with the wind on the kids in the back seat, especially since it’s starting to cool off here, help me keep things more secure, and on top of that I love how she looks with a top on!
