I installed new fenders on my 70 and have some fit issues with the door. When I look inside the fender, it seems to follow the contour of the hinge pillar. t appears the new fender may be bowed. I am sure others have encountered the same thing. What have you done to deal with this?

Make sure the inner lip on the fender isn't contacting the door post. I had to grind some material off the fender lip to clearance the post. Ken

New metal sucks! You need to be patient and slowly grind away tell you get the fit you want

I was looking at my hinge pillar wher in contacts the fender contour. I was contemplating grinding it down. Is this the are you're referring to.

I did have to grind on that weld flange you are talking about. I also had to grind on the bottom of the fender flange as well. Ken

All the above! The passenger side was so off I had to take some everywhere and hit it a few times with a rubber mallet. My opinion non of this new metal jives with the old metal. Keep working it tell it fits like you want it.

Sometime a block of wood helps when hitting the pillar. I used flap discs to grind to fit, but found a roto zip with a "A" shaped metal bur cut aggressively when needed
I put all new front clip metal in, i.e., core support, inner wheel well, wheel well, inner kick panels, new A pillars. My new front fenders fit better than on the old rusty truck, but I still had the use the BFH at times and grind a lot. Good luck,
Forrest

Thanks. Much of what I was thinking but could to hear what others went through to improve fit. Not building a show truck but still want it to look right.
