So here it goes. After 5 years and counting into the project I finally decided to start a thread. It all started in 2012 with this picture in "for sale" section:

First repairs to have it certified for the road, and have doors open and close more or less smoothly, very "interesting" way to stiffen door posts ;D.

This is what I pulled out of the gas tank.
Very "creative" way to repair a fuel sending unit;D;D;D
Looks like all previous repairs were done on VERY tight budget.

Great looking 77 Sport!

Is the Black Grill center original?

Is the front of the Core Support Black as well? Can't confirm from pictures.

So, what were your plans for the restoration when you started in 2013? Did you stick to the plan?

On the Special Décor packages of the '76 and '77's, the grill and the core support were black.

Paint wasn't original, so it is hard to tell about grill.
Core support and engine bay were black, but sprayed with rubberized undercoat. Underneath of which was original red paint.
The restoration plan was to stay as close to original as possible (within a reason, it is not a concurs restoration). And yes I'm sticking to a plan.
And it's got a non stock 351W in it, which I will keep.

fordfan - Yep, that's exactly why I was asking. I thought it may have been a Special Decor originally.

Broncanuk - Good job at keeping it original as possible and sticking with that plan. Most restorations do not end up as planned. I would keep the 351w too.

Sorry, I should correct myself - I've deviated from original plan - first I'll put it back on the road as a roadster with fiberglass door inserts from Broncodesign, than continue with hard top and doors restoration.

I’m doing a 77 build from scratch. I want to keep an eye on yours to make sure I put the rights pats in the night place.

Chassis restoration and assembly went relatively smoothly. Except lots of dust from long hours of sandblasting. All hardware, rubber bushings and other small parts were replaced with new from JBG.
Floors under front seats were all rusted. Also looked like tub was welded together using 2 halves from different Broncos. So I cut it in 2 and started with front clip repairs and front floors replacement. I was hoping that rear part of the tub - quarters, fenders, floor could be repaired.... I was wrong.

I was stupid enough not to take pictures before pulling everything apart, so later there was a lot of guesswork and internet searches for right pictures. I'm still not sure that I put it back together right ;D
