Looking great!
Sorry you're going to miss one celebration for another, but the Air Force retirement thing doesn't happen every day, doesn't come around every year, and carriers more weight it seems to me.
So work out the logistics of doing both!;D
...in reality I will get the windows installed, though it’s something I’ve never done.
It's not too bad. Easy concept, and once you get the "feel" for it, not putting too much or too little pressure, lubing the string, right size string, etc. it's not bad at all.
Just be patient even if it's going really well. All it takes is a little too much pressure on a flat piece of glass trying to hurry it along to ruin another day.
Think the tint shop will give me a discount for tinting un-installed glass? %)
Very possible! Is it too late to find out?
Really depends on the place. Some are so good at doing it in the vehicle that they may not save any time doing it on the table. But I would think most installers would appreciate the glass being right in front of them and no twisting around.
Probably more likely to net a discount the hotter the weather!
Got it ready for carpet tomorrow, should I put sound/heat barrier on tailgate?
I realize a bit late, but did you do it? I would have said yes, insulate everywhere.
If not, not a huge loss. But every little bit counts as far as I'm concerned.
Oh and does anyone know if this is another year-specific thing? B RON CO or maybe his son noticed I had different headlight rings thanks
Not that I'm aware of. But it would not be the first time that we saw something like that from say a '66 model vs later years.
Did anyone comment on that yet?
Is the difference the holes for the adjusters, and the lack of said holes? Or is there a shape difference as well?
Officially, they're all the same on all EB's. So one could have been swapped on from another similar vehicle when an original got lost or damaged.
But you never know. Be curious to hear what others say about that.
How did your old one come out? Easily, or fighting all the way?
...and probably my favorite upgrade I’ve done thus far on either Bronco, hood shocks!!! You could not remove the smile from my face when I raised and lowered the hood for the first time and put away the axe handle I had been using...highly recommend this upgrade!!
No doubt! Enjoy the new freedom from the strut.
But I'll still pass on a warning of occasional drama just in case you have not read about others' experiences with them.
A few, but not all Broncos get little kinks in the hood between the two braces nearest the strut mounts. Just about in the middle of the hood edge in fact.
As said, it's not on all Broncos, and most go along just fine without any trouble (mine and most of the people I know, and most members here), but all it takes is one little kink in that nice new paint to ruin your day and dim the smile a bit.
Basically "feel" how it closes and watch the edge of the hood. If yours closes easily and you don't see any real flexing along the edge, you're probably in the clear.
If you do however, I would brace the edge somehow.
Two methods typically used. Longer brackets (covering more of the edge), or reinforcing tubes inside the lip of the hood.
Duff's kit is more expensive, but includes the longer bracket to spread the load farther, for this reason.
Adding a brace inside the edge of the hood is what two of my buddies did with theirs. They used (if I remember) 3/4" square aluminum tubing riveted (and maybe glued with silicone) into the pocket formed by the side of the hood, between the two braces.
Either one should work, and the square tubing is probably the easiest for most to to should the need arise.
Again, it's not a high percentage of EB's that suffer this fate. So don't want to create worry where none is warranted. But it's more than just a few too, so can't
not mention it. Well worth keeping an eye on.
