• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

My dad is looking to sell his 1972 Bronco. It's been garaged most of it's life and it has barely been used. It has ~6600 miles, yes ~6600 not 66000. It is completely stock with the exception of having a Meyer's snow plow on it (Only used to plow his driveway and maybe the neighbor, never commercially). It a 302 V8, sport or deluxe package. Still has original tires. Original paint. A few wheel cylinders have been replaced.

Wondering what it is worth?

My dad said he was looking to sell it, had a neighbor offer him $25K cash that he would bring by the next day. Knowing a little about the value and the uniqueness I told my dad that it was probably a low ball offer. I was just not sure what a realistic fair price for it was.

I would happily take it off his hands but don't have the space for it and could not bear to leave it outside. I would really have to build a garage for it. I'll check to see how serious he is.

20K was a conservative guess. Just look on Ebay.Bill I’m certain other people will chime in shortly. Pics of engine, and documented one owner status, low mileage will easily increase its value. Good luck with your Dads sale. Personally I’d have that garage built and keep it.

Miles don't mean much, condition does. It would be very helpful to take good pictures of the inner fenders, engine bay, floors and rocker panels from the underside, etc (see some samples below). Given the rust at the passenger's rear I would be worried that in the typical rust areas mentioned above that there is more rust elsewhere. 15-20k is probably a good ballpark, I have bought much nicer this year for 18-25k. Without the rear quarter or other potential issues it would be worth more (IMHO the original paint look is really hurt by the primered-up rust areas). Sometimes the offer from some local guy is best and other times it isn't. The interior looks great.

Looks like a good candidate for Barret-Jackson or Mecum auctions. Prior to that, fix up the paint damage on the passenger rear using a reputable shop and single stage paint.

As mentioned, under body is an area of concern.

The low mileage and originality will mean something to collectors.

Don't let low ballers and feigned altruism take advantage of your father.

Good luck with the sale.

he is the original owner, he has the bill of sale. the body is free of all rust except what you see in the pictures. There is surface rust on the axles, drive shaft and other unpainted parts of the drive train and suspension. The quarter panel rust is from an early repair from it rolling into a wood retaining wall. The paint is a bit tired. Repair/repainting the quarter I think will make it stand out more since it will look new and the rest of the body will look 40+ years old. I will take some more pictures and find out what my dad's intentions are.

Thanks

A nice truck with a extra nice interior. If he was offered 25k, I would say that would be a pretty good offer.

I completely agree good offer from a neighbor or fellow member on this forum, stress-free sale, but could probably get 30-32k on eBay, if willing to deal with the drama

Hi Bill. I too live on the Island and have to say that is one beautiful Bronco. I have been collecting Broncos for the last 35 + years. I have a few original paint Broncos in the collection. I would be happy to share some knowledge and show you my collection. I would also consider purchasing your Bronco for the collection. I like the fact that it was an original owner from L.I. That Bronco appears to have been well taken care of and deserves to be properly stored and kept that way and not end up as a Hamptons beach car. Please give me a call at 516 322 1703 any time. Thanks Kerry

I would do the ebay route. 2 not as nice as that one sold last week on ebay for right at $20k. I don't think it would fetch under $25k but more than likely fetch the $30-35k range. You can set a reserve at $25k and tell your neighbor to start bidding. Once reserve is met there tends to be a bidding war. Good body and paint guys have scanners that will give them the paint formula to match the patina that's on the bronco.
