Hey Guys, where do you get your C bushings? And what brand do you prefer? Energy, Prothane? I'm curious cuz my rig goes in tomorrow for a front end alignment. Thanks, Jim. ;)

What brand are they? I know they're blue, which won't work with my build, looking for black, leaning towards WH. Thanks. Jim;D:cool:;)

I like and use energy suspension C bushings.
The Duff's bushings should work out well also, just pay attention to a little round nub down in the V of their bushing if they are still made that way. I was present when a friend was installing a set and having a tough time getting the arms even. turned out that nub was hitting the end making it difficult to keep the bushings perfectly centered. once that was discovered and the nub ground off they fit and worked like a charm.
whatever you choose, make sure the metal surfaces are clean and smooth. Lube them up generously, it'll help them go together much more easily.

I tried the Prothane bushings and they were too big and squished out quite a bit on the sides. I wasn't happy with it so I replaced it with the Energy bushings which are slightly smaller and didn't squish out.

I'm sure the Prothane bushings are fine, but I wasn't happy. So in Bronco fashion, I buy the same part multiple times to get something I'm happy with. :p

Here's a photo comparing the Prothane, Energy & stock bushings.

Thanks tirewater, you know what, I ordered a set from WildHorses and they are Prothane. I hope they will fit good. ?:?

Duff invented and patented the poly c-bushing for the eb. They did this after losing numerous oem rubber bushings while racing in Baja.

I would not consider anyone else for this important part, but I am sure the others have all copied Duff's design since they couldn't afford to maintain the very expensive patent.

I wonder who that was%)
As said, once installed they fit great and didn't squish out. That doesn't necessarily mean yours wouldn't. May depend on condition of the arms.

They'll likely squeeze out at least a bit. Doesn't hurt anything and they work well. But if you're not going to like them with little "ears" sticking out, you might consider another brand before going to the trouble.
As said, they still work, even if squeezed. But definitely scrape and clean the surface of the pads, and lube them up good with something to keep it to a minimum. Even dish soap or liquid hand soap works well for this purpose.

Paint the surface to keep future rust at bay, but if yours are powder coated like so many are these days, powder is thick and is going to make them squeeze out for sure.
If you have not coated them already, but are going to, tell the coater to either leave the pads uncoated, or if they can apply just a thinner layer that would help.
I know we're only talking a few extra thou in theory, but in practice on a big chunk of steel like this the powder coat does tend to get pretty thick. Does make a difference.

Thanks all,I think I will clean extra good and use a lil white grease when I install them, even if they stick out a bit that's ok, I don't mind that, just really don't want them to squeak. ;D:cool:;)
