Ugh Oh.. lol That would've been my luck too

I pulled the D20 fill plug....at this moment most smart people would’ve put a pan down.....anyway, GUSHHH! Half a gallon of tranny fluid came gushing out all over me, my face and floor! Excellent times! lol! I overnighted the seals from WH and off to the tranny Shop tomorrow, $300- I thought that was a DEAL!

Put your color choices on a dart board and go for it. Just as good a method as any. I knew the color I wanted but not the actual color shade of that color I wanted. Little color chips don't help and when looking up the color on sprayed cars there's about 10 shades of that color. It became a looser of allot of sleep.

I have more questions than answers.
No pictures of the fluid bath?? That's the worst. Bad enough having it run down your arm, make a turn at your pit then full speed run to your pants. Hoping you can stop it before your boot fills up....

Sad part I need to do this same repair on one of my square bodies. I'll try and remember the pan. Thanks for the reminder

I like this technique! As of now I'm still on the Brittany Blue wagon....could change any second!

I had the Lip seal changed and something's not sitting right...he refilled it with Tranny Fluid? Shouldn't it take Gear oil? I questioned him and he says that's what they do....any input on this?

Thanks

Factory spec transfer case 50 weight motor oil. ( Valvoline racing 50 weight) allot of people used 90 weight gear oil. I use synthetic amsoil 90 weight gear oil which is the same viscosity as 50 weight motor oil when measured on the same scale. It doesnt thicken up when cold like regular gear oil will. ATF would be a no go for me.

Ok, my drain plug was ground down to clear the exhaust, could I just drain from the inspection plate? would I need to flush? Thanks!

Progress! So unfortunately my side exhaust through the rocker is goin bye bye. The flares wouldn’t have looked right with them and it was the right call to Nix them. I’m still gonna have it exit the side...we’ll see. Body guy is great with a lot of attention to detail. He still has a lot to do but progress is good. I’m also really liking the color!

Almost there! Hopefully a week or so and I’ll start the reassembly. Love the color, very different from the yellow...can’t say my kids agree..

What do you all think about Linex on the cage? It’s powdercoated now and I suppose it can be re powdercoated but just wanted to see who has done it and do you like it.

Thanks!
Mike

That color looks really classy. Tell the kids to hold on until it’s back together and out in the sunlight - bet they’ll come around. As slick as the paint is, powder coat may look better than the texture of the Linex. Guess you could test spray a piece of pipe or pvc and compare to see which you like best?

Yeah that's what I liked about the color...kinda timeless. Good call on the test piece. Thanks!

I really like that color too. Your guy did a very nice job on the prep and paint. I vote no on linex on the cage as well for what that's worth!
