Ok time for some more updates, this work thing keeps getting in my way.
While the body and frame are at the body shop I wanted to get the engine built.
It is a .040 over 302 that has been balanced and it will be running a compression of 9.5 to 1. I have chosen a small 500cfm 4 barrel carb so the throttle response should be crisp.
On the heads I added small block Chevrolet screw in studs. 3 of the stock studs pulled out when I was disassembling the block.
With a Edelbrock intake manifold, carb and short tube headers the engine is coming together.
The bronco will also get power steering and AC.
With the engine done I started on the transfer case. It was cleaned up, inspected and will receive a Wild Horses twin stick shifter.
All of the internal parts looked good.
The transfer case was assembled with all new bearings and seals.
The Advanced Adapter NV 3550 plate was bolted onto the transfer case.
Then I received the phone call I could pick up the frame from the body shop and get started on it.
I took it apart so the frame, axles and other parts could go off to get powder coated.
In about a week I had a semi gloss black frame, it was done by Powder Craft in North Hollywood, Ca.
The roll cage was also powder coated. It was done gloss black.
The axles where powder coated and got rebuilt with new gears 3.73, bearings and seals.
Now with all of the parts painted it was time to start building.
The suspension is a 3 1/2" lift from Wild Horses 4X4.
On the front axle the king pins where replaced. When I took them apart, the rollers came out of one of the bearings. This Bronco was used up.
With the new king pins in I started on the disk brake conversion.
The rear axle I kept the drum brakes. Everything was replaced on them also.
One had a missing spring and the other one had broken springs.
The Bronco will be brand new when I get done with it.
The rear axle is done brakes are on, time to set it on the ground. We will be running 33X12.50X15 BFG All Terrains. Tony ended buying the tires and rims online at 4x4groupbuy.com.
A new set of Warn hubs where bolted on.
Well that is it for now. Please check back soon because I have more pictures to post.
Again, thanks for looking.
