Looking good Dan...I'm having similar issues with the bracket height needed to mount my front ORI's at 19" + above the front frame rails... buying would be easier and cheaper but like you're doing... "it ain't the Bronco owner's way"! : ) How high are yours above the top of the frame rail to the mounting bolt?

Floor looks great!

Are you really going to have that much up travel
with the axle/tires, etc??

At normal ride height, no, it will be 6" up and 12" down. But I'll be able to add some air to raise the ride height for some fun in the dunes.

Very cool!!! I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever
start work up on my new crawler again.

Although I don't think there are any dunes within
even a 2 day drive from me.

Hey Brian, my fronts are 20" above the frame which is too much even for the 20" ORI strut. Mine are 18" and I have way too much shaft showing - 10" I think. It worked OK for my coilovers but the ORIs have a shorter body for equivalent travel length. My tires hit the wheel wells before the ORIs hit the internal bump stops.

My next project will be to take up that extra in the front by lowering the hoop mount or raising the axle mount.

My rear hoops look like they will be 15" above frame which I think will be perfect for an 18" ORI. I'm hoping to match travel front/rear.

When I ordered the ORIs for the front, I measured over and over again and it still came out short so it may take some trial and error.

I would think 15 above frame would be great for front with an 18 ORI. Or are you going with 20s?

I'm trying and am dang close with my D60 to having 6 inches of up travel with 9inches between my axle tube and my frame. Stock ride ht w/o any lift is 7" up front. Trying to keep COG low and be able to cruise on 40's and sit lower than a typical Bronco on 35's. That's the goal on my build anyway... my radius arms hitting the frame rails are my uptravel limitation right now.

This is why I need the upper mount on the 16" ORI so high above the frame. 23.8" is the collapsed measurement for my 16" ORI. With 2.5" compressed btw axle and frame at full travel, add that to the frame being appr. 4" and subtract that total from 23.8" and the upper
mount needs to be in the neighborhood of 18"...ive got one set of 16"ORI's for mock up.

Figure a typical 5.5" lift which is common for D60 swaps added on to a stock (axle to frame susp measurement) and you are at appr 12.5". Typical 4" of up travel and you have appr 12" needed to the top eye on a strut tower mount... at least 6" shorter tower mount than what I'm thinking I'll need with a planned 2" more up-travel....

Where in relation to the axle tube is your lower ORI mount going to be?

More shock hoop fitting/trimming and got drivers side fish plates welded in and hoops tacked. Still more floor clearancing. I think these hoops are going to take more time than the rest of the work combined. I'm finding that the whole drivers side is pretty saggy beyond the body mounts... wonder if it was rolled on that side at one time. Passenger side hoops on Wednesday then start cutting into the wheel wells for the shock body.

Nothin much. Those shock hoops are still slowing me down. So much trimming of the tube ends and the floor to get them to sit right. Hoping to finish burning those in next week so I can order the ORIs.

Finally got these dang shock hoops burned in. Not my finest work welding thin tube to thick plate with flux core but I think they will hold with some guesseting to the frame and a cross-brace or two above the floor.

Next up, set my ride height and measure for the ORI struts.
