How about screwing a small tube to the skin and on the tube have a spring tensioned C to fit around the tube. Then when you want to remove the skin, pull back on the C compressing the spring and turn the C to clear the tube. If this is done in about four locations the skin would be secure yet easy to remove with no tools and no holes to the tube. Just a thought, hopefully it makes some sense to you. ( The C would have a sleeve welded to it so it would slide on the small tube and compress the spring.)
