That's a great job of repurposing there "Fred".
Looks like there's just enough left to make a brace on top for a second axle assembly!

Paul

Thx Paul,
My intentions were to make it fit both axles but with the front axle axle on it didn't feel safe with the other on top. It would have been very top heavy and not to mention that the Weider 350 (lbs) may have met its max with the D44 alone. The tubing is pretty thin so I'll I won't be adding to much more weight. I've gotta do some research and figure out how to remove the calipers and caliper brackets. I'd feel better removing some weight off this stand.

Hoghead and shafts installed

Took a time off from the Dana 44 and focused back to my rear axle. Cleaned up the 4.11 hoghead and gave it some rattle can spray. Looks dark pink but it’s not. Need to find a set of crush washers, may use some of these very old pennies my grandfather gave me.
I was able to slide in the reconditioned 28 spline shafts that has the repair sleeve installed. Filled up the axle with gear oil, approx 3qts. Been three weeks and no leaks, crossing my fingers! Only thing left to do is rebuild the rear brakes. Bought all new guts today except for the T style cylinder pins which are a lil tough to find locally.

I’ll admit, a smile came over me when I pulled the tires out of storage!

Drum brake guts installed

Got a 35% online coupon for Advance Auto, all I had to do is spend $50 or more. So for around $57 I got all new shoes and drum brake guts. Only pieces missing are the emergency cable and the brake cyclinder pins.

Got an early start this morning and installed most all the guts. This is the passenger side. Let me know if I messed up somewhere on the install!

I love my bronco parts, but I love making memories with my family too! I promise I'll start glueing some of these parts together soon![/QUOTE]

Good man, you’ve got your priorities straight.

Looking good! Go Tigers!

I’m enjoying the moment that’s for sure! I didn’t expect to be this good. If we don’t see the Turnover Chain we will triumph when the clock hits 00:00!

A little update on the build which isn’t too much. ChuckyB hooked me up with his zinc coater and I had several pieces such as the antisway bar hardware, brake calipers and rotors and other various parts.

I’ve been slowly rebuilding the Dana 44. Probably going a lil overboard as I intended not to change the R&P but since I’m in there I might as well. I have a brand new set of Yukon front and rr 4.56 R&Ps sitting in boxes. I have 4.10s in the rr so I think I’m gonna continue that in the front. I’ll need to source out new or used 4.10 gears for the front over the next few months.

It’s been a while so thought I would update this thread a little bit since 2018. Since then I’ve been deployed to Kuwait 2018 and Qatar 2020 so I was able to save a lil bit of my Per Diem. So here go with some updates.

During Christmas 2019 I took my D44 down to BlazinChuck to have him rebuild it with new gears. Chuck did a great job and I highly recommend his work. This picture was taken before I left on my 2020 deployment. It’s off to storage where it has been since.

I got back from Qatar in August 2020 and had the goal of buying bronco parts on Black Friday. As we all know there were a shortage of sheet metal and that’s what I really wanted. No body had deals or panels for that matter. I struck up a friendship with Nick at NE Classic Broncos. Super guy to work with. It took a few months but my panels finally came in and he notified me immediately. Nick saved me a lot of money on shipping costs alone. Here is a pic of the panels I bought.
