HA. I don't have the patience to load and maintain music on my phone, and I don't typically stream. Most of the time I listen to the radio and, yes, I still use CDs. The 90s/early 2000s had the best music anyway.

I had thought about putting the speakers in the center, but wanting to go with the more traditional stereo sound. I may mount my amps in the spreaders instead.

"The 90s/early 2000s had the best music anyway." This and the comment, "Left over from high school", I think you missed the best music. Just kidding. When I was in HS, the 8-track was the thing to have.

I have a Kenwood HU in a Tuffy console mounted on the crossbars of my family cage. Waterproof amp, don't remember the brand, mounted to the floor under the console. Two Kickers in the rear and two small speakers in the dash. Kicker wiring ran in the bars.

more evolution in this project. I ran most of the wires to the cage spreaders and decided it was just way too much of a project to put the amps up there. The rear seats are only just wide enough to put the amps underneath. Running the wires under the carpet was easy enough. That leaves me with only having to run one set of wires up the cage, much cleaner look.

At this rate you’ll end up copying the stereo from my green one.
Also, told you so. :-*

I know you’ve got carpet, but think about making a bracket to keep the amps off the floor (dodge spills, feet, more airflow, etc). I got some pictures of mine (bent flat stock and then tapped it for screws and attached to the inside edges of the seat bracket) if it’s something you want to try.

There is only just enough room for the amps, no way to put any space under them. I had two 225.2 bolted together back to back and stuffed under my rear seat in my old silverado. They would rarely overheat. I don't expect to have an issue with the amps laying flat. If I do run into heat issues, I'll either add a fan, or move them to the cage.

How tall are your amps?
This an older RF 800.4 in my green one:

The mtx is a hair shorter than the fosgate. The sliders prohibit spacing them off of the floor.

Figured I would go ahead and reinstall the cheap kenwood speakers for now, to at least have something while I build out the rest. Went ahead and put the sub in as well. I can say that the cheapest are garbage, but they sound better than squeaks and rattles. The sub is WAY overkill for the bronco, but it is what i have sitting around now RF P3 DVC, I think they are 4ohm coils running parallel, so 2 ohm to the amp. Probably going to put a 10 in instead.

The cheap speakers smell a little burnt when playing, so I’m moving forward with this.

Got a template cut out of cardboard. Should have enough depth above the box. If I move the woofer in, pretty much in line with the driver, I’ll have more room, that will put the tweeter outboard and leave room onboard for a map light. Any issues doing this?

Maybe grab some angle mounts for the tweeters to aim them at your ears rather than straight down, but that’s the only thing I’d take into account. No need to separate the tweeter into its own chamber.

The hardest part of my install like that was getting the wired though the windshield frame, but I think you said you were going another way which is probably smart.

Also, I think you need another sub.

I went ahead and made separate chambers. May not help, but I figure it can’t hurt. Also, in a moment of thoughtlessness, I magically made my driver side box into a passenger side. Had to take off a little on each side to make it fit, but I’m good to go.

Got them painted, exterior house paint I already had and only for water resistance.

Still need to carpet and install.

Fronts are done. Need to zip tie wire to the cage, but the boxes are in and they sound sooo much better than what I had.

I'm a little annoyed that every time I start the bronco, or turn it off, but want to keep the radio going, the radio power cycles. I'm going to get a small capacitor and see if that will give me the few seconds of power on the remote line to keep the radio running.

I bought all my stereo equipment before I even got the truck while it was still in transit. Waiting a week or so for a new (old) car to arrive can be tough. The PO had put in an aftermarket head unit and two 4" coaxials in the front doors, but that was it. So I bought:

Pioneer BT head unit: https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-MVH-...D=41KYBCkNVKL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail

JL Audio 5.25 coaxes for the front: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036N9UUE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

JL 6x9s for the rear: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003633654/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Tuffy Boxes to mount the rear speakers over the wheel wells: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Y31GTA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

JL 4 channel amp (mounted under front passenger seat): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WVORKT2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap powered subwoofer (mounted under rear bench): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019Z3R582/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also put in an alarm with proximity/tilt sensors, etc. I figured that was a must since I live in south Florida and the top has never been on.

The wife was pissed because she thinks all the modern electronic stuff ruins the "classicness" of the truck, but oh well...

JL is fantastic.

That sub may let you down depending on what you are used to. May want to try to keep the sub upfront May be under the passenger seat.

I am sure all else will be great.
Photos.

You can still hide your new tech.
Keep the classic look but have new tech tunes.

Retrosound specializes in that,
