Well, after months of reading and researching I wanted to introduce myself and lay out a plan for my build and get as much feedback as possible and hopefully provide info to others wanting to do the same. This is my first thread so forgive me if my forum etiquette is off.

To start, I am a husband, father and business owner so time is extremely valuable. I have an 11 year old girl and a 14 yr old son who are athletic and keep us running from practices to games and so on and I love it!

My second passion is classic vehicles with modern heartbeat. I have a thing for making these old turds beautiful and drive-able with modern amenities such as Fuel injection, A/C etc. I have a 72 C-10 4x4 short bed with a 6.0 LS and 4L65E which has been fully restored and will be my sons when he is grown and responsible.

For this build I am starting with an uncut 66 in pristine condition, numbers matching and intend to cut it to pieces, tube it out with 1 tons and 44's and go wheelin....

Well, not exactly. It is a 66 but it is rough and rusty, has no engine, leaking C4, nasty D20, sweet shocks brackets, axle trusses, anti wrap bars and limiting straps. It has been hacked, patched and painted 5 times including the last paint job which looks like it is flat white for the ceiling in the house. It has no seats the dash is destroyed and it ended its life with an engine fire.

My plan for this build is to fix the body using the back half of the tub and replacing all sheet metal from the quarters forward. I'm not interested in a show vehicle but rather a clean driver. I will use the stock frame with a 2 inch body lift. I will be going through the axles and transfer case replacing worn parts and seals then painting. The engine bay will house a Coyote 5.0 from an F150 and the trans will be a 6R80. I want a family cage with 3 point seat belts keeping the family safe that clears the hard top. I love the look of 33x12.50's on these and think I will go with Brittany blue unless my wife influences me otherwise. I want her to be happy and want to ride in it too.

Everyone on here is awesome and I have enjoyed reading all the builds. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to offer.

Hey Steve! Can't wait to see what you are going to do with it. If it turns out anything like your 72 it will be awesome!

Looking forward to seeing your build. Should add some pics of the 72 C-10 in your garage!

Welcome! Interesting and following. Nothing looks 66' in the pics, is it just a frankenstein bronco?

Welcome to the forum Steve, hopefully you won't take as long as your cousin has to build one... Sorry Ben, couldn't resist!

Thanks for the welcome, I hope it doesn't take 3 years either however my 72 was restored 12 years ago and still has loose ends. This thread may hold me to the fire to check things off the list

There are few if any indicators that it is a 66 other than the pink slip and a VIN tag located on a kick panel that has been replaced....

Here is the progress that was made last week to get up to date. I built a box tube frame to set the body on for transport and blasting

Welcome Steve. Sounds like a good plan. My '66 restomod was built by p/o to haul his wife and two children safely, so he built it with an awesome cage and all seats as well as shoulder harness, etc tie into it. He also tied the family style cage into the frame. It has the 33's and MT rims.

Brittany Blue has been one of my favorite colors since I saw the '67 (or '68?) Shelby ad where the blue Shelby is beside the lake.

That looks great! That is somewhat of the style I'm going for! Here is something close to what the end result should be minus the gap from the body lift

Got the axles stripped

I got the axles stripped down and dropped them off to get hot tanked and check to make sure they aren't bent, I'm a little worried, the front axle had camber shims. We will see....

Wow, how time flies

I hadn’t really paid attention to the time that has gone by and all the things that I’ve gotten done at this point. I got preoccupied because I picked up at 1972 Ford F100 short bed and ordered a roadster shop chassis and a new coyote crate motor with a T56. Update on the progress of the bronco, I got the frame completely welded ground and modified, the body completely stripped and now sheet-metal is being replaced. Here are some pictures to keep everyone updated to the progress. Oh, also picked up a 5.0 coyote with the 6R80 automatic complete from an F150 for $4100 delivered to my door.
